38 Days Old

I almost caught her smiling.  I swear she has been smiling for the past week or so, but everytime I pull out the camera she stops!

34 Days Old

I know, I know...I've missed 2 days of blog posts.  I have a good excuse - I've been sick.  Like 102+ degree fever sick.  Luckily I wasn't contagious so we don't have to worry about Miss Avery getting sick.

Aunt Sissy and Adam saved the day yesterday!  They took care of Avery in between feedings so I could sleep.  There's rumors that Aunt Sissy took advantage of her time with Avery to play dress-up. :)

I sure missed this little girl!

1 Month Old

After taking a few pictures, I realized that she still had her paci!  This is what happened when I tried to take the pics without the paci...

She finally calmed down a little and let me get a couple of pics with a bow.  She kinda looks like an 80's workout star with the legwarmers and headband :)

Weight: 10 lbs 13 oz - 95th percentile (according to our bathroom scale)

Length: 22 inches - 85th percentile

Clothes: 0-3 months.  There are a couple of your footed pj's that you have recently outgrown.  I can't tell if it's because you are long or your feet or so big, but they are definitely stretched!

Diapers:  You are still wearing a size 1 since you outgrew newborn diapers in the hospital :)

Schedule:  Until recently I have let you have your own schedule.  Amazingly you have had a pretty regular schedule of eating every 2 1/2 hours - 3 hours and going about 5 hours between feedings at night.  You have started having more "awake" time in between feedings so we are working on "eat/wake/sleep" schedule.  I have started trying to get you used to sleeping in your crib for nap times so that the transition at night will be a little easier.  You always have a long awake time in the evenings when your daddy gets home. You always start to get a little fussy, but as soon as your daddy takes you then you quiet down and just stare at him.  You also usually spend some time playing with us on the activity mat while we eat dinner.

On Monday, we started a nighttime ritual:  quick bath, change into pj's, nurse in the rocking chair, read a chapter from Little Women, then down to sleep.  The past two nights she has slept from 8:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with only one feeding around 2:30 a.m.  It has been wonderful and I hope you keep it up!

Temperament/Personality: You are really a very happy baby.  You hardly ever cry except a little in the evenings and when you need something.  You love to cuddle, but you also like to be able to stretch out and kick around on your activity mat.  You are wonderful in your carseat (once I get you strapped in :))  You make it very easy for your mommy to go to lunch or run errands which really helps your mommy's sanity!

Likes: You love your activity mat and when your Daddy gets home.  You also love Shelby and the feeling is mutual!  She is always right next to you and loves to lick your cute little toes.  You also like when your mommy sings you lullabies (you must be tone deaf - ha!)

Dislikes: Baths!

Happenings: You are getting better at tummy time and are starting to grab at your toys.  You have had a lot of visitors this month and have enjoyed cuddling with all of them.  You have also started to smile and I love it!  It's the most wonderful feeling in the world to look down and see your beautiful smile.

Outings: You are so easy on outings.  We have been running errands and to lunch with Daddy, to the doctor then lunch and shopping with CiCi, shopping and to lunch with Aunt Sissy, and to lunch with Rachel and Kelly from work.  We are getting to be pros at changing your diaper and nursing you in the backseat of the car.

Where has the month gone?  I'm trying to enjoy every second I have with you because you'll be grown before I know it!

30 Days Old

This sleeping beauty went 6 hours between feedings last night.. She's our perfect angel!

29 Days Old

**This is actually my post from yesterday.   I posted it last night, but it didn't show up for some reason.

The Pitts boys were finally well enough to come visit Avery.   We were so excited to have them!  They each got a chance to hold her and she even passed some gas while they were here.  I think they were impressed :)

Evan was a little jealous that he is no longer the baby. He kept playing with the baby toys and looked pretty traumatized while he was holding her - ha!  It was a great visit.

Later in the afternoon,  we had some tummy time.  Avery is starting to tolerate it a little better finally.

4 Weeks Old

I can't believe it's been 4 whole weeks since we met this bright eyed baby girl!

She's loving her activity mat that her Aunt Sissy got her.  Look at her grabbing the monkey!
