We decided to take a quick trip to the marina this morning for our first boat ride of the summer and Shelby's first boat ride ever. She was s little nervous, but did great. The weather was perfect and we were early enough to miss the crowd - it was a great time! Hope everyone had as nice of a Memorial Day as we did.

Summertime and the living is easy...
The girls and I enjoyed some pool time today. But it wasn't all work and no play...I swam a few laps and scrubbed the bottom of the pool. I'm getting spoiled having a pool in my backyard!

Relocation Services
We offered relocation services to this alligator snapping turtle that was in the backyard. We thought it would be best for the girls and the turtle if they didn't meet.
That turtle was fussy!!

The Hen House
My internet is not working well, so I'm blogging by email so you can see pics of my chickies.
We (mostly Adam) spent several days last week working on finishing the coop. The chicks love it! They come in and out during the day, but are closed up at night. And I'm so proud that they learned to get on their roosts! As soon as my internet is working again I'llblog more.

Birthdays and More Birthdays
Saturday started off with a yummy breakfast and my first birthday gift from Adam. He got me a super cute wristlet and a Coach gift card. We headed out for some regular weekend errands and decided to stop by the Verizon store. My phone has been acting crazy lately! On Saturday morning it just started opening and closing apps, sending emails, etc. all on it's own...so it's time for a new phone. They didn't have the one I wanted in stock, so it should get here tomorrow. I'm so excited! It's purple!!!
After running some more errands, Adam and I decided to head to the lakehouse because my dad had asked me to come pick up a desk that he was keeping for me. When we got there, I thought I noticed my sister's car down the road, but I thought it was just the neighbor's. We walking in the lakehouse and....SURPRISE...the whole family crew was there for a surprise birthday party for me. It was so much fun and I had no idea!! I didn't have my camera, so Melissa took this pic. It was incredibly girly, complete with pink cupcakes, a crown, and Hello Kitty plates and napkins! My mom posted about the party on her blog here.
I got tons of great swag for my birthday! Here's my gifts from Adam...
Here are my gifts from the fam...
On Sunday morning, I had pancakes for breakfast on my Hello Kitty plates - too fun. That afternoon we headed to Fayetteville for Jayden's skating birthday party. I was pretty excited about skating since it had been close to 20 years since the last time I skated. I only made one lap, then chickened out! I guess the older you get the more you realize how painful falls can be. Here's a few pics
We finished off the weekend by Adam cooking me homemade lasagna and watching a new episode of the Walking Dead (love it!)
And just when I thought that my birthday was over, I got a phone call this morning to come down to the lobby at work for these from Adam... How did I get so lucky??

Weekends
Last weekend:
Adam and I drove to Lincoln to watch Jayden's basketball game. I had no idea that Lincoln was so far away! I thought it was right on the other side of Farmington...and it was...30 minutes on the other side. I'm glad we went though. It was fun getting to drive through all the small Arkansas towns and show Adam (the California boy) what it's like in Small Town, Arkansas.
Melissa's directions to the gym included, "follow the paw prints on the street"...only in a small town! After the game (Cardinal's won - woo hoo!) we headed back towards Farmington and made a pit stop at the Walmart Express in Prarie Grove on the way. The lady in front of us at the register didn't have $.50 to pay for her medicine, so the cashier covered it for her. It was a good reminder of how lucky we are to have good jobs and it made me very proud to work for a company where a cashier would be willing to pay out of her own pocket for someone's medicine.
We stopped at a cute little restaurant in Farmington called Briar Rose. It looks like a storybook cottage inside and out. They bake their own bread, cinnamon rolls, etc. The food was pretty good and I treated myself to a cinnamon roll "to go."
This weekend:
Work has been so hectic lately that I really could have used a nice weekend of sleeping late and lounging in my pj's, but that wasn't in the cards. On Saturday morning I had a Jr. League mini retreat.
Don't let the term "mini retreat" fool you! We spent Saturday morning from 8:00 - 12:00 cleaning the Peace at Home family shelter. We scrubbed and organized every inch of that place. It needed a lot of work, but looked so much better once we left. I was exhausted! I had to get up at 5:30 so that I could get there in time and did some heavy duty work for 4 hours. I guess all this sitting at a desk has made me lazy.
We didn't do anything very exciting the rest of the weekend. We ran errands, washed clothes, cleaned, cooked, etc. The weather was gorgeous so it was nice to be able to enjoy it.
After the day I've had today, it was good that I got a little rest on Sunday. I'm in dire need of a vacation!!
