I passed!

I passed my glucose test with flying colors!  I'm so excited that I won't have to try to make it through the holidays without sweets :)

If you read my last blog post, you know that I have been really stressed about this test.  Not about the results, but about fasting for that long.

I've always been one of those people that must eat breakfast.  If I don't eat within 15-20 min of waking up, then I get light headed and sick to my stomach.  This has gotten even worse with pregnancy.  Just ask Adam...there have been several times when I've run through the house throwing anything I can find in the kitchen into my mouth to keep from throwing up.  Hence the nervousness about fasting from midnight until 9 a.m.

To help prevent throwing up in my car, I set my alarm and woke up at 11:45 for some oatmeal before the midnight cut off.  I was pretty out of it and dropped my creamer from our discontinued everyday dishes...shattered to pieces!  After cleaning up the mess, eating some oatmeal, and settling the dogs back down, I headed back to bed.  I don't know what I was thinking!  Eating and immediately lying down when 7 months pregnant do not mix.  After a while of trying to sleep sitting up, I finally drifted to sleep.

I also got some great advice from a lady on my team.  She said not to take my prenatal vitamin bc taking them on an empty stomach can make you sick.  I think these two things saved me!

Bring on the pumpkin pie! :)

28 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  28 Weeks

Size of Baby:  2.5 lb and about 15 inches.  The size of an eggplant

New Developments:  She's developing more fat, so her wrinkly skin is getting smoother.  She can also achieve REM sleep and might even be dreaming!

Gender:  Girl!

Maternity Clothes:  All maternity

Movement:  I'm starting to feel more whole body movements instead of kicks/punches.  I wonder if she's starting to run out of room

Sleep:  Sleep?  Whats that?

Symptoms:  Sinus headaches, hip pain and fussiness.  I have made it through most of the pregnancy without being very emotional, but now it's beginning.  I think it's probably brought on by the exhaustion

Cravings: Nothing special.

What I Miss: Being able to take meds for my sinus headaches.  I know that technically I can, but I'm trying home remedies first.

Best Moment this Week: I had a great nap on Sunday afternoon with my hubby and got in some baby clothes that I ordered.  Everything is so cute for little girls!

What I'm looking forward to: Being done with my Glucose Test and my maternity pics on Saturday.  I'm really nervous about being able to make it so long without eating for the glucose test.  I've usually had 2 breakfasts by then!  Hopefully everything will turn out ok.

27 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  27 Weeks

Size of Baby:  2.5 lb and about 15 inches

New Developments:  She's practicing inhaling and exhaling so she can develop her lungs.  She is also showing brain activity.  I also read that if she was born right now, she has a 90% survival rate!  But I think she needs to keep baking for about 13 more weeks :)

Gender:  Girl!

Maternity Clothes:  All maternity.  Some of the shirts I bought early on are starting to get a little snug

Movement:  I think she is turning into an early bird because she's started getting more active in the mornings. We went to Bob Evans for breakfast on Sunday morning and she was kicking all over the place.  I think she must have liked the pancakes.

Sleep:  Lots of tossing and turning and painful hips

Symptoms:  Hip pain, back pain, and exhaustion...welcome to the third trimester!

Cravings: Mom brought rice krispie treats to the party and they were super yummy!

What I Miss: Being able to easily put on shoes and socks

Best Moment this Week: Family Halloween Party and pedicure

What I'm looking forward to: This weekend...it's the last weekend that we have nothing planned for the next several weeks.  I'm looking forward to sleeping late and napping!

We Scared Up Some Fun

This weekend was our 2nd Annual Halloween Party with the family.  Just like last year, we had a great time and got a kick out of seeing each other in costume.

Mom & Dad dressed as Sarah Palin (the Alaskan version) and an Old Geiser she picked up in Alaska.  Melissa & Kerry dressed as Fred and Daphne from Scooby Doo.  Jayden dressed as a "gansta" (circa now), Kyler dressed as a gangster (circa 1920's), and Evan dressed as a Transformer.  I dressed as a redneck - my pregnant belly was the perfect beer belly!  And Adam dressed as himself...maybe next year I can talk him into dressing up :).

We had food, built a bonfire, roasted marshmallows, bobbed for apples and roasted apples.  The boys really got into the apple bobbing.  We had done it last year and decided to do it again this year since it was easy and fun.  They are old pros and got tons of apples, which were great to play with in the fire!  I guess we'll have to ask the deer how the roasted apples where, since they ended up all over the back yard.

It was a short party, because by 8:00 we were all partied out (including me!).  I'm so glad everyone got to come have some fun and enjoy the wonderful fall weather.  Here's some pictures from the night.  I apologize for subjecting you all to my bare pregnant belly.  In case you are wondering, the last picture is me with the Sarah Palin mask on.  I was pretending to be Bristal Palin, ha!

P.S.  I'm going to do my 27 week update tomorrow instead of tonight.  I worked from home this afternoon, so I'm already in my PJs and don't feel like taking a picture tonight.

26 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  26 Weeks

Size of Baby:  2.2 lb and about 15 inches  - the size of a head of head of lettuce

New Developments:  Her taste buds are very developed and she can taste all the different foods I eat in the amniotic fluid.

Gender:  Girl!

Maternity Clothes:  I definitely need to invest in some maternity pj pants.

Movement:  Still active.  I feel her most at night and when I'm sitting down.  Unfortunately she wasn't moving much while I was out shopping with Mom and Melissa this weekend so they didn't get to feel her.

Sleep:  Not great.  I just don't feel rested because I toss and turn all night.  I think I need to start taking more naps!

Symptoms:  Hip pain in my left hip - not fun!

Cravings:  A good nights sleep

What I Miss: Being able to squeeze through tight spaces.

Best Moment this Week: Getting all kinds of cute clothes for this sweet girl

What I'm looking forward to: Working from home tomorrow, which means I get to sleep in and work in house pants - can't wait!

25 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  25 Weeks

Size of Baby:  2 lb and about 14 inches  - the size of a head of cauliflower

New Developments:  She has a sense of equilibrium so she can tell what is up and what is down.  She is also growing more fat and hair.

Gender:  Girl!

Maternity Clothes: Loving my new boots.  After this cold weekend, I'm seriously considering getting a maternity coat.  Mom gave me a coat to try and it fits over my bump but looks big everywhere else.  I'll be on the lookout for a reasonably priced coat!

Movement:  Still active.  I feel her throughout the day and a lot at night.  While I'm trying to go to sleep or when I wake up in the middle of the night I can feel her bouncing all over the place.

Sleep:  Starting to get a little rough again, but nothing I can't deal with.  Just a little hip pain so I have to roll over from one side to the other.  Good training for when this little girl gets here

Symptoms:  Still having some itchy skin, but the doc told me I can take some Zyrtec and Pepcid for it.  It hasn't been bad enough to resort to meds, but at least I know something that will help if I get really miserable.

Cravings:  Wine, but I'm settling for grape juice in a wine glass :)

What I Miss:  Being able to cut my own toenails...oh wait...that means I have a perfect excuse for lots of pedicures!

Best Moment this Week: Got to hear her sweet little heartbeat at the doctor's office and feel her kick the doppler.  Adam rubbed my feet several times this week - heavenly!  And the electrician installed a generator transfer switch so the house will be powered even if the electricity goes out.  Now we don't have to worry about no power with a new baby!

What I'm looking forward to: Baby shopping for lots of pink girly stuff with Mom and Melissa on Saturday.

The Joys of Pregnancy

No...I'm not being sarcastic.  I have noticed several really great things about pregnancy.  Luckily I have been one of those women that feel very normal while pregnant.  Sometimes I feel so normal that I forget that I'm pregnant...until I look down and can't see my feet :)

Here's some of the things I love about being pregnant:

1.  I can drink regular milk!  No more lactose intolerance.  That means regular cows milk in my fridge, in my decaf latte, and ice cream without being miserably sick.  It's wonderful and I'm taking full advantage.

2.  My belly button is cute.  I have always hated my belly button because it's really wide...not anymore!   As my belly has grown my belly button has turned into one of those little cute buttons that I have always envied.  I hope it never changes.  Hopefully Adam isn't getting too sick of me showing it to him all the time and telling him how much I love it :)

3.  I'm happy when clothes don't fit me anymore because that means our little girl is healthy and growing!

4.  I get to feel her kick me when I'm in meetings.  It's so cool to be sitting in a meeting at work and feel her bumping around.  I know this won't last for long, so I'm trying to enjoy it as long as I can!

On a side note, we got a lot accomplished this weekend.  We winterized the chicken coop, did some cleaning in the garage, finished the crib skirt, and hung shelves in the nursery.  Whew...

24 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  24 Weeks

Size of Baby:  1.5 lb and about 13.5 inches  - the size of a rutabaga

Gender:  Girl!

Maternity Clothes: I got some new maternity clothes in this week and its nice to have more fall options...including some skinny jeans and skinny cords - so cute!  I ordered 2 new pairs of boots this weekend that should be in this week.

Movement:  She's very active, especially during the evenings.  The other night she was kicking up a storm and I wanted to see if I could see my belly moved, so I asked her to kick again - she did!  She's brilliant :)

Sleep:  Other than getting up once a night, I've been sleeping great thanks to my new pillow.  Last night was a little rough because my back and hips were sore from sewing all day, but other than that I'm sleeping great.

Symptoms:  The only symptom I'm having right now is itchy dry skin.

Cravings:  Still cereal...

What I Miss:  Being able to bend over without grunting :)

Best Moment this Week:  I love that it is finally fall!  Mums, cooler weather when I gather the chicken eggs, boots, leaves changing colors, football, sewing - LOVE IT ALL!!

What I'm looking forward to: I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday so I'm excited to hear this little girl's heartbeat again.  And...Adam's birthday is on Wednesday!
