Week 23

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  23 Weeks

Size of Baby:  1.25 lb and about 12.5 inches  - the length of an ear of corn

Gender:  Girl!

Maternity Clothes: As you can see by how gigantic I've gotten, I'm pretty much all maternity.  I tried to put on one of my North Face fleeces this weekend and my belly hung out of the bottom...very attractive :)  I ordered a bunch more maternity stuff late last week that should be here this week.

Movement:  I swear that she is doing karate or zumba or something in there!  She is all over the place including in the middle of the night while I'm trying to sleep.  You can even feel her from the outside and Adam got to feel her last week.

Sleep:  My new pregnancy pillow is wonderful!  As you can tell by the picture, it takes up a lot of room, but it is so worth it.  It really helps me sleep better (aside from this little girl kicking me all night)

Symptoms:  Still feeling pretty good and really enjoying the cooler weather.

Cravings:  Lots of cereal

What I Miss:  Being able to drink regular coffee

Best Moment this Week:  Mums and pumpkins!

22 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  22 Weeks

Size of Baby:  1 lb and about 11 inches  - the size of a spaghetti squash

Gender:  Girl!

Maternity Clothes: There are still a few things non-maternity that fit like some dresses and big t-shirts

Movement:  She's become much more active this past week.  I feel her periodically throughout the day and even more in the evenings.  There have been a couple of times that I have felt her from the outside, but Adam hasn't felt her yet.

Sleep:  Off and on.  I haven't had any really rough nights, but I just don't feel very rested in the mornings

Symptoms:  Feeling good!  A sore back and hips every once and a while, but I have lots of energy.  I'm trying to take advantage of the energy while it's here.

Cravings:  Still sweets.  I've been eating lots of green grapes and drinking white grape juice.  And..I had pecan pancakes for dinner the other night - yum!

What I Miss:  Being able to bend over with ease.  I can still bend over, but it's starting to get uncomfortable.  Guess that's only going to get worse!

Best Moment this Week:  We've been making great progress on the nursery and it feels great to see it all coming together

Happenings at the Ranch

I realized that it has been a long time since I blogged about the girls and all the fun things that have been happening at the ranch.  All the posts have been focused on the baby, so this post is dedicated to all the other stuff going on.

We had a great weekend.  It started out with getting see the boys play football on Saturday morning in Farmington.  I joined Mom, Dad, Mim and the Pitts crew for a the 4th and 5th grade Cardinals games in the rain.  We were all bundled in rain gear so I didn't get any pics.  The rain slowed down enough for me to get a picture of Jayden running onto the field through the sign and rows of cheerleaders.  They won both games - woo hoo!

I think I mentioned in a previous post that I had ordered a pregnancy pillow.  It finally came in - it's wonderful!  It basically surrounds your body in one continuous pillow so that you have support no matter which way you turn.  It's a little big, but Betis loves using it as a "nest" to protect her from Shelby :)

Here's a pic of Big Bear.  She's just chilling in the dog house, digesting the ribs that Adam made the girls.  He makes them a rack of ribs almost every weekend.  It's such a special treat for them and they love it!  I know it looks like she's foaming at the mouth, but it's just grey hair.  Can you believe that she will be 13 in December?  She's still trucking along...

Shelby's napping from a busy day at the farm.  She's grown so much and has been such a good puppy.  I think her herding instinct is starting to come in.  The past couple of days, she's started nipping at my heels if I'm not in the same room with Adam and herding me in his direction.  It doesn't hurt, but is pretty funny.  She wants to know where we are at all times!   She's also tried to go visit the neighbors cows a couple of times.  I guess it's hard for an Australian Cattle Dog to resist a bunch of cows :)

I don't have a picture of the chickens, but they are doing great too.  I went to gather eggs today and found an egg without a shell.  It was the weirdest thing!  It was translucent and felt a little like a water balloon.  I threw it away, because I was scared to eat it.  I googled it and apparently it just happens sometimes.  They said it was sometimes tied to weather changes.  I guess one of the girls doesn't like all the rain we have been having.

Saturday night we went to dinner and Hobby Lobby to buy new knobs for the changing table and shelves for the nursery.  Today, I just hung around the house and did domestic stuff like laundry, bread making, knitting and sewing.  It was a great end to the weekend!

She's a Mover and Shaker

In my last weekly update on Monday, I said that I wasn't feeling this little girl very consistently.  Just a kick or a movement every once and a while.  Wow - that has changed in the past couple of days!

She is moving all over the place!!  I must be feeling those long legs that she got from her daddy :)

21 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  21 Weeks

Size of Baby:  12 oz. and about 10 1/2 inches  - the size of a banana

Gender:  Girl!

Maternity Clothes: I can still wear some of my non-maternity dresses, and a couple of t-shirts but everything else is maternity.  I need to get some maternity pj tops so I don't have to walk around with my belly hanging out of my pjs :)

Movement:  I feel her, but it's still really inconsistent.  She's more active at night and a I felt a few kicks last night while trying to go to sleep.  You still can't feel her from the outside yet.

Sleep:  Sleep has actually been a little better the past week!  I also finally broke down and ordered a maternity pillow.  Hopefully it will be better than the pillow arrangement I have right now and maybe give Adam a little more room..it comes in tomorrow.

Symptoms:  Feeling pretty good other than a little heartburn.  I've had lots of energy the past couple of days and have been working a lot on things around the house.

Cravings:  I guess the old wive's tale is true about craving sweets when you are having a girl.  My biggest craving right now is for chocolate cheerios - yummy!  In fact, I think I will have a bowl as my dessert after eating the wonderful roast, potatoes and carrots that Adam made for dinner.

What I Miss:  Being able to lift things.  I felt bad having Adam move stuff around without me being able to help.

Best Moment this Week:  Finding out that we are having a little girl and getting to see her on the ultrasound.  We've also gotten a lot done on the nursery and it is so fun!  It is really starting to come together.

Oh the tales this dresser could tell

This dresser has survived for over 31 years.  It started in my nursery, then survived three Pitts boys, and now will be in our little girl's nursery.

It needed a new coat of paint and some new PINK knobs (of course), but I think it turned out great!

It's a.....

GIRL!!!

Here's an ultrasound picture.  Her head is to the left and she has her legs lifted up over her head.  They said that her legs were above average in length - she definitely didn't get that from me :)

This was an ultrasound pic from 12 weeks.  She's grown a lot!!

She's perfectly healthy.  We're super excited!

20 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  20 Weeks

Size of Baby:  10 1/2 oz. and about 6 1/2 inches from crown to rump - the size of a small cantaloupe

Gender:  We find out on Wednesday!!

Maternity Clothes:  I have a few non-maternity shirts that I can still wear, but all maternity bottoms.  I just realized that I had on this same t-shirt in my last post.  I promise that I own more maternity clothes - it was just coincidence! :)

Movement:  I feel the baby, but it's still really inconsistent.  He/she was moving a lot last night after Adam's famous chicken enchiladas and a brownie.  You still can't feel him/her from the outside yet.

Sleep:  Sleep has been pretty difficult for a while now. I can't get comfortable and wake up throughout the night.  I finally gave up sleeping at around 4 a.m. this morning.  I just keep reminding myself that this is helping prepare me for the next several years.

Symptoms:  Some heartburn and my back bothers me if I'm on my feet for a while.  Nothing too terrible yet.

Cravings:  Sweets, specifically ice cream and blueberry muffins

What I Miss:  A nice glass of wine with dinner.

Best Moment this Week:  Making it to the halfway mark in the pregnancy and buying some diapers...they are so tiny and cute!

In Four Days...

We will find out if Baby Johnson is a girl or a boy.  Yep, that’s right…we’re having a baby!!  We are due on January 21st and can’t wait!
Here’s some bump pics to catch you up.  I’ll start a regular weekly update next week.

10 weeks:

15 weeks:

16 weeks:

17 weeks:

19 weeks:

Everything has been going really well so far - I've been very lucky.  About the only symptoms I've been dealing with lately are heartburn (which isn't different from pre-pregnancy) and not being able to sleep.  Between painful hips and crazy dreams, I wake up throughout the night.  At least it's good training for when the baby gets here :)

I had a very "pregnant" dream tonight.  I dreamed that I was in a pastry shop full of cheese danish, bear claws, muffins, donuts, bagels, etc. and everything looked so wonderful that I couldn't decide what to eat!  I woke up at 3:30 a.m. starving and craving blueberry muffins.  So...since I couldn't go back to sleep...I got up and made blueberry muffins at 3:30 a.m.! :)  At least it's the weekend, so I can take a nap this afternoon if I get too sleepy.

Now, let's refer to the Old Wives to see if we are having a boy or a girl:
  • Carrying High or Low?  I think I'm carrying high:  Girl
  • Baby's Heartrate?  It's always been over 140 bpm:  Girl
  • Sweet or Salty?  Sweet!  Hence, the dreams about pastries and cooking blueberry muffins at 3:30 a.m.:  Girl
  • Chinese Birth Chart?  The chart says:  Boy
  • Mayan Predictor - Age and Year of Conception?  One is even, the other is odd:  Boy
  • Skin?  I haven't had any breakouts:  Boy
  • Wedding ring on a piece of hair - which way does it spin?   My boss's secretary actually made me do this when she found out about the baby yesterday.  It spun in a circle:  Boy
  • Morning Sickness?  It didn't seem that bad, but I don't have anything to compare it to:  Boy
  • Shape of Mom's Face?  My face seems fuller to me:  Girl
  • Which side I prefer to rest on?  Right:  Girl
Well.. it's a tie!  I guess we'll just have to wait until Wednesday!!
